Articles on Teaching About Israel
In teaching history, the most difficult task remains creating context: catapulting students back into a different time frame and having them disregard their contemporary historical perspective. The goal is to "witness" history as it unfolded, not as it concluded.

New curriculum!
CIE is pleased to present three new curriculum units on modern Israel: To Israel and Back: A Journey to Our Future uses the months before and after a teen trip to Israel to enhance the Jewish identity of participating teens. Israel's National Security and Civil Liberties: Balancing the State's Objectives examines the delicate balancing act between maintaining national security and civil liberties.
Upcoming workshops
ICIE and ISMI are delighted to put interested teachers on a wait list for the CIE 10th one-week pre-collegiate workshop on Israel, tentatively scheduled for June 2011. The exact dates of the workshop will not be known until funding is secured. Announcement about holding the workshop will be made by the end of January 2011.
